| The trap |

Sometimes a realization comes suddenly without conscious introduction or a clear chain of events in thoughts. These are often familiar concepts learned in a rational logical philosophical manner. Learned but not realized... There is a big difference in a stated concept and a fully realized experience. Some might call it an epiphany. Today, everything came together and many things suddenly were clear. Why do we cling to drama? Why do we cling to pain from the past? Why do we carry our rage inside us like a pregnant needy abandoned creature scavenging for food to feed it and make it grow stronger? I believe we do this because we have a score to settle and we cannot let it go until we extract justice in the form of revenge. I also believe we get something from the toxic energy that feeds something within us that has gotten out of control and has inserted itself into us. We then believe it to be who we are and we need it to define ourselves. Past lovers, past friends, past family members, people and events in our lives that eat away at us and result in outbursts are traps. They trap us inside and they prevent us from living. They attach like a parasite or like a cancer. They take energy. They alienate you from those who would love you. You are not your emotions. The goal for many people is ongoing: to set themselves free and escape from the trap.

Greetings from San Francisco! You are receiving this email because you are a valued supporter of one of my musical projects, Amber Asylum. I am writing you today to introduce you to a new endeavour of mine. Grayceon is a three-piece progessive/folk/metal group with electric cello, guitar, drums, and double male/female vocals. Our self-titled, debut CD was just released this past March on Vendlus Records and is getting great reviews. This is my first time singing in a band, (let alone singing and playing the cello simultaneously!), so it is a huge challenge for me and it is a project I am very excited about.

En primer lugar quisiera mostrar mi apoyo a esta iniciativa y, aprovechando la coyuntura, destacar un par de cosas que han llamado mi atención:
- En primer lugar, la antelación con que se ha iniciado la difusión del evento, factor que considero fundamental para lograr el mejor resultado posible.
- En segundo lugar, el nacimiento del colectivo Rue Morgue, que se une al recientemente creado Terror Industrial; y con eso de "se une" no me refiero tan sólo a una cuestión de proximidad temporal, sino a que existe colaboración entre ambos colectivos... y con una peculiaridad adicional: tanto en uno como otro se da otro fenómeno casi inédito: cada uno de estos colectivos cuenta con "savia fresca" e integrantes presentes en diferentes ciudades de nuestra geografía. Planteamientos que he visto en muy contadas ocasiones por estas tierras y que me parecen algo de lo que pueden enorgullecerse.
Confío en que estas iniciativas sean todo un éxito. El tiempo lo dirá. |
